Third Sunday 11:15am Morning Prayer

Fouth Sunday 11:15am Holy Communion

Fifth Sunday 4:00pm Parish Evensong

The changes in the clergy team mean that we have had to slightly rearrange the services at St Peter’s. Morning services will continue to be at 11:15 am and at least twice a month this will be Holy Communion. Baptisms and other events that are already in the diary mean that the changeover to the new pattern will be a little protracted, and for the next few months the pattern may not be fixed. We will try to ensure that there is as much notice as possible of the service pattern each month and to get to a fixed pattern as soon as is practical.

Churchyard Maintenance

The increased cost of mowing and the parlous state of the finances at St Peter’s have combined to enforce “No-Mow May” in the churchyard. In order to maintain the churchyard - especially the areas with more recent graves and the area in front of the church - we would be very grateful for any help that anyone is able to give. Could you ‘adopt’ a section of the churchyard or a group of graves? Do you have time to mow the front lawn once or twice a year in between the scheduled cuts? Please let us know in the parish office if you are able to help in any way.
Very many thanks

History of the Church

The church of St Peter’s was consecrated in April 1880 and took just over two years to complete for the princely sum of £2000. The cornerstone of the building was laid by Mrs De Winton of Grafton Brewery in the September 1878. On the day the church was consecrated the Bishop of Hereford preached from the Scriptures, Chronicles, chapter 22; “arise, therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the Lord”. The first hymn sung at St Peter’s was, “The Church’s one foundation”. The church was designed by Mr Kempson of Hereford in the early English style.

The Church community is still struggling with the long term effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the challenges we face is the loss of earnings as donations, fees and hall rental income have fallen considerably. If you are able to support the work of our Churches and make a donation we would be very grateful.

Donations can be made online using the button below, or through the team office. Thank you for your help.
