David Bland, formerly our Intergenerational Missioner, has taken on a new role as Community Pastor. He is an integral part of the team at St. Martin's who work to support our local community.
David: “After 17 years working for myself fixing computers and developing intergenerational church in Leominster I am ready for a new challenge! In recent years I’ve helped found various intergenerational expressions of church including Leominster Messy Church, Forest Church and a multi-sensory exploring faith group for babies and their parents. As a life-long member of the Church of England I love doing Church around a campfire as much as indoors. I am passionate for everyone to have a voice that can be heard, helping young and old alike to lead worship and share their faith. I will bring a love of camping, an engineering mind, a heart of justice and the ability to play the piano to the role. Over the last couple of years, in response to the European refugee crisis I’ve help set up a charity that collects and delivers aid to refugees. It has been amazing to lead groups of volunteers to help in Calais, and see lives changed by the experience. At the same time, I’m training as a Lay Pioneer Minister with Church Mission Society, learning to theologically reflect on my missional context and apply the lessons we can learn from church history to the way we share the gospel with our local communities. Most importantly I’m looking forward to meeting people in South Wye and joining with God to see what exciting plans He has for us.”
