This is our prayer corner. Here you can find prayers to help you in your spiritual life and prayers for particular issues.
If you would like us to pray for you about anything please contact us and we will offer a prayer for you at the Sunday service and at evening prayer.
There is a prayer board in St Martin's church - you are welcome to come and take a moment of quiet, light a candle and put a prayer on the board.
Christmas Prayers
Holy Jesus,
by being
born one of us,
and lying
humbly in a manger,
you show
how much God loves the world.
Let the
light of your love always shine in our hearts,
until we
reach our home in heaven,
and see
you on your throne of glory.
Amen.
Lord Jesus Christ,
your birth at Bethlehem
draws us to kneel in wonder at heaven touching earth:
accept our heartfelt praise
as we worship you,
our Saviour and our eternal God.
Amen.
Loving Jesus,
you were born in a stable but worshipped by the angels.
Be with all who are lonely,
and with all who feel distant from celebrations.
Be for us a living hope that lightens their hearts.
Amen.
Christ born for us,
Son of God, given for us,
help us to know you,
to worship and to serve you.
Amen.
The kings, Lord,
brought myrrh, frankincense, and gold.
Lord, we have nothing of our own to bring;
we bring you what you have given:
our lives for your life.
Amen.
Jesus, Saviour, son of Mary,
you know us and love us,
you share our lives
and hear our prayer.
Glory to you for ever.
Amen.
May God, who has called us out of darkness
into his marvellous light,
bless us and fill us with peace.
Amen.
A prayer for times of war and conflict.
In peace let us pray to the Lord.
We pray for the leaders of the nations, that you will guide them in the ways of freedom, justice and truth. Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer.
We pray for those who bear arms on behalf of the nation,
that they may have discipline and discernment,
courage and compassion.
Lord, in your mercy
hear our prayer.
We pray for our enemies, and those who wish us harm,
that you will turn the hearts of all to kindness and friendship.
Lord, in your mercy
hear our prayer.
We pray for the wounded and the captive,
the grieving and the homeless,
that in all their trials they may know your love and support.
Lord, in your mercy
hear our prayer.
Most holy God and Father,
hear our prayers for all who strive for peace
and all who fight for justice.
Help us, who today remember the cost of war,
to work for a better tomorrow;
and, as we commend to you lives lost in terror and conflict,
bring us all, in the end, to the peace of your presence;
through Christ our Lord.
Amen
